Project leader Colombia

PAX stands for peace and brings people together who have the courage to stand for peace. Together with people in conflict areas and concerned citizens worldwide, PAX works to build just and peaceful societies across the globe.

The work of the Colombia team within the Natural Resources & Latin America programme has for a number of years focused on the prevention and mitigation of violence and conflicts in mining regions. The most important objectives are improving safety and promoting the (human) rights of the local population. For example, in the north of Colombia (Cesar) we support communities of victims of mining-related violence in their search for truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence. As part of the implementation of the Peace Agreement, PAX also supports the strengthening of victim organizations so that they are better able to actively monitor and influence the implementation of transitional justice (Cauca and Meta), and we support traditional authorities of indigenous reservations with the reintegration process of former FARC fighters (Cauca and Nariño-Putumayo).
