Gender perspectives on life of people in the context of war on certain territories of Luhan’sk and Donets’k regions

The daily practices of people whose life is closely connected to the armed conflict has been the primary focus of the PAX’s gender-sensitive research in Ukraine conducted in the second half of 2018.

Gender-specific challenges, perceptions and stereotypes were primarily documented through the lens of routine activities that revealed the transformations of gender roles and expectations influenced by an ongoing armed conflict. The arguments presented by the respondents to justify new roles and areas of responsibility, new situations of redistribution of functions, allowed us to reconstruct the thinking and normative systems that impact their behavior.
