21-11-2018 PAX launches ‘Crunch Time’ at the UN in Geneva today. The report provides an overview of the positions of European states on Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS), also known as ‘killer robots’. The report finds that there is a general agreement that there is a ‘red line’ beyond which increasing autonomy in weapons systems is no longer acceptable. European states also agree that there must be human control over the use of force and that there is a need to work towards concrete policy outcomes.Humanitarian Disarmament

22-10-2018 PAX is having a busy couple of weeks at the United Nations in New York. The UN General Assembly’s First Committee, which deals with all matters related to disarmament and global threats to peace, is holding its 73rd session. A number of PAX disarmament experts are there to engage with delegations on a variety subjects and UN resolutions that will be voted upon later this month.
