The second round of negotiations on a global nuclear weapons ban have gotten underway at the United Nations in New York.

During the next three weeks, representatives from a large majority of countries will work through the draft of the treaty that will govern the ban. The Dutch government is one of the countries taking part. PAX is also at the negotiations, trying to create as strong a ban as possible.

In an effort to encourage the negotiators, thousands of people are expected to take part in the Women’s March on Saturday, also in New York. PAX has asked people to send in messages for the negotiators. These messages will be displayed on placards and carried during the march. See some of the hundreds of messages already sent in (in both Dutch and English).

The negotiations will continue until 7 July. Keep up to date with developments here on our homepage, on twitter @paxforpeace or at the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.
